Nutritionist Carmen Martinez Vidal

The Thames Clinic Nutrionist, Carmen Martinez Vidal

Carmen Martinez Vidal

Carmen Martinez Vidal has achieved a BSc (Hons) Health Sciences: Nutritional Therapy by the University of Westminster, London.
A Registered Nutritional Therapist and member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT). Registered Practitioner with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

In her clinical practice she follows the Functional Medicine model, which underpins nutritional therapy. Thus, she addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a body systems-oriented approach, engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. By shifting to a more holistic, patient-centered and personalised approach, she addresses you as a whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.

As a practitioner, she loves spending time with her patients, listening to their medical histories (from childhood to adulthood) and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that may have influenced their long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, her approach supports “the unique genetic expression of health and vitality of each individual” by applying strategies specifically for you, what some call Personalised and Lifestyle Medicine. Food is her passion.

As a patient, you become an active partner. This allows you to really be in charge of improving your own health and changing the outcome of disease. Her aim is to educate and motivate you to achieve healthy changes in your diet and lifestyle.

She integrates “alternative medicine”, creating a focus on prevention and support through:

Nutrition, diet, and exercise; use of the latest UK recognized medical laboratory testing and other diagnostic techniques; combinations of botanical medicines, homeopathy, supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification programme, and/or stress and Lifestyle Management techniques – Diploma in Neuro Linguistical Programme (NLP).
